Neighbors for 19 years
Cellular One provides exceptional wireless communications through our commitment to personalized services and advanced technology.
Mission Statement created by Cellular One employees
Since our inception in 1991, Cellular One of East Central Illinois always has focused on differentiating ourselves from our large corporate competitors by providing outstanding customer service and the best technology for our local customers.
Our company is one of the few independent cellular service providers in the country that has operated continually under the same owners since first opening for business. While the other cellular service providers in our area have changed ownership and names multiple times, we have remained constant – both in our name and our quality of service. We maintain a philosophy of personal service extending to customers, community and employees.
We are licensed to serve the residents of Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Jasper, Lawrence, Richland and Vermilion counties. That is where our focus is. Our employees live and work in this area, so we know your wireless needs firsthand. We continually upgrade our systems with the latest technologies to give you world-class service, with an unmatchable hometown touch.
Top 10 Reasons to Buy From Cellular One
#1 We’re Your
Neighbors
As the only privately-owned
cellular company in East Central Illinois, we run our
business from here. We’re not just storefronts with people
making all the decisions somewhere in another part of the
country or world.
#2
Deep Roots
You know our employees. From
the engineer who makes your cellular service work to the
person who answers the phone when you call Customer Care,
our employees work and live here. Paychecks are spent here.
Taxes go to our local governments.
#3 We Support Our Communities
Not only in payroll and taxes, but in the countless
organizations we help each year, we give back to our local
communities - both financially and with employee
participation. Our company believes it is important to
support those who make it possible for us to be here.
#4 We Care
Cellular One has maintained a philosophy of personalized
service since its inception, with that philosophy extending
to customers, community and employees. As the only
locally-operated cellular company, we provide an unmatchable
hometown touch.
#5 Our
Needs Are Your Needs
We live here. We use
our service. So, unlike the companies based elsewhere, we
know your wireless needs firsthand. We know that your Toledo
is not in Ohio or your Danville is not in California. And,
we know you are not making an international call from Paris!
#6 Advanced Technologies
But, like those big cellular corporations, we provide you
the latest in cellular technologies. We continually work to
enhance our network to provide you with the most advanced
service capabilities and the latest in phone offerings.
#7 Affordable and Flexible
Cellular One cannot compete with the multi-million dollar
advertising budgets of the major cellular companies, but we
can compete with our offerings. Since we are small, we have
more flexibility to design plans for the people right here
in East Central Illinois.
#8 We Appreciate You
We never,
ever forget that you make it possible for us to make a
living in our hometowns. Loyal customers in the small
communities and rural areas where we live are who support
our company – who needs the big cities with hundreds of
thousands of people!
#9
Fun
We love working with our hometown
customers. From our customer appreciation events in the
stores to the many community festivals, parades and other
activities, we have fun! Come on in to see us. We like
having you as our neighbor!
#10 We’re Still Here
In this day
of mega mergers, we are one of very few companies to
continue to operate under the same ownership since our start
in 1991. We are still Cellular One. We like doing business
with the people of East Central Illinois and plan to
continue to do so.
Helping Neighbors . . .
As a privately-owned, locally-operated company, Cellular One of East Central Illinois focuses on supporting the communities that support us. The company encourages community involvement and works to create an atmosphere conducive for its employees to give back to their communities.
Employees are involved in and serve on boards of many organizations, such as United Way, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, AMBUCS, Boys and Girls Club, Red Cross, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, local economic development, convention and visitor bureaus, and other groups.
Each of Cellular One’s stores awards a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is a customer, child of a customer, or grandchild of a customer and will enroll in one of the state colleges located in the company’s 11-county service area.
The company has donated funds to numerous local not-for-profit organizations. A major holiday campaign encourages local residents to vote for their favorite local not-for-profit agency to receive a $500 donation from each of our stores. Groups supported have been American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Toys for Tots, animal shelters, women’s shelters, United Way, Red Cross, Special Olympics, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Multiple Sclerosis Association, AMBUCS, Center for Children’s Services, YMCA, Girl Scouts, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army, food banks and many more.
Food drives have been advertised for local food pantries, with customers receiving discounts for bringing in canned goods. Our employees donated food items in exchange for having a “jeans day.”
Proceeds from other employee “jeans day” campaigns have provided hundreds of dollars and supplies for many organizations, including Women’s Care Clinic, Animal Shelter Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Multiple Sclerosis Society, and care packages for troops.
Cellular One supports community sporting venues including youth baseball, hockey, soccer, high school athletics, collegiate summer baseball, and community college and Division I college athletics. The support includes donations of phones with service, cash and gift certificate donations, and cash partnerships.
Major donations have been made to support local libraries, symphonies, community centers, athletic facilities, festivals and more.
The company donates nearly 100,000 minutes of cellular service each year. Some of the programs using the donated services include:
ClassLink RN – Cellular One recognized a need for communications for nurses in the public schools in our 11-county service area. Nurses typically served multiple schools; in one case, a nurse was responsible for 14 schools. With a cellular phone, the nurse is always available to consult on medication or in the case of an injury or emergency.
Police Department – Cellular One provides phones and service for the Danville Police Department patrol cars to allow private, secure communications for the officers without leaving their patrol cars. Since the program’s inception, we have continued to upgrade the phones to current technology and other officers have been added, including detectives, school officers, and now the department’s Crimestoppers’ liaison.
MDA Partner – Cellular One is a partner with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and provides the bank of phones and service for MDA fundraising events throughout its 11-county service area.
Veterans Affairs Medical Center – The company periodically provides phones and service for veterans to make calls to family and friends.
Other programs supported with phones have included
Meals on Wheels (to call in emergency situations at delivery
stops), Cellular One Responds (working with the local Emergency
Management Agencies to deliver phones to emergency situations
and for emergency vehicles), Call to Protect (phones and service
donated for use by domestic abuse victims), phones for election
officials, and numerous other local community programs.
